Zicam Injury Lawyer

Zicam is a line of products meant to remedy cold symptoms. While many Zicam products are still for sale, three particular products were removed from the market due to allegations of serious, permanent, and potentially dangerous side effects. These three products are as follows:
  • Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel
  • Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs
  • Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs—Kid Size
Manufacturer Matrixx stopped producing these products after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended that all people immediately stop using the products. This warning resulted from several reports of people suffering from anosmia, which is loss of your sense of smell. Not only can losing your sense of smell affect your sense of taste and general enjoyment of your life, but it may also be dangerous. If you cannot smell, you will likely not be able to detect odors of gas, smoke, or other signs of danger. Victims who lost their sense of smell due to these Zicam products have filed lawsuits against Matrixx in order to recover for their injuries and related losses.

Time Limits for Zicam Lawsuits

Though Matrixx removed the Zicam products in questions from the shelves, many people may have previously purchased these products and they may still be in use in their homes. Additionally, many people may use medications past the expiration date, which means that Zicam injuries may still be occurring. In Florida, you have four years after the date of your injury during which to file a lawsuit. Therefore, if you have suffered a loss of smell from using Zicam within the last four years, you are likely eligible to recover even though these products are no longer on the market. Due to this time limit, however, you should not delay in contacting an experienced Zicam attorney as soon as possible to discuss a possible case.
