Product Recalls of the Week

September 21 – September 28

Products get recalled when the government or safety officials collect data that shows how defective a product may be. Sometimes customers complain about the product itself and the company researches what may have been wrong. Other times, the safety regulators like the FDA and NHTSA do an internal review and come up with mistakes the companies have made. Either way, it’s important for the consumers to know what problems may be associated with products in the market. The attorneys at Sibley Dolman Gipe Accident Injury Lawyers, PA have put together a list of some to watch out for.

Foods, Medicines and Cosmetics

  • TF Supplements has issued a voluntary recall of RHINO 7. FDA analysis found these products to contain undeclared desmethyl carbondenafil and dapoxentine. Desmethyl carbondenafil is a phosphodiesterase PDE-5 inhibitor which is a new class of drugs used to treat male erectile dysfunction, making these products unapproved new drugs. Daxpoxetine is an active ingredient not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This drug may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels that can be life threatening. Dapoxetine has not been approved by the FDA and therefore its safety has not been established. Also, the chemical makeup of the drug belongs to a class of drugs known as serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) used to treat depression. Reports have shown that antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults. The company has received no reports of illness associated with these products to date. You may contact this company at 1(866) 620-3586 between Monday and Friday, from 9 to 5 CT.
  • Kermit, Inc. is recalling a bundle of products because of undeclared allergens on the label. Undeclared soy, an ingredient in Worcestershire Sauce is used in a list of sauces that are listed on the FDA’s website. One of the specific sauces, Kermit’s Key Lime Ginger Wasabi Marinade, is being recalled due to the undeclared soybeans and wheat ingredients in Soy Sauce. The presence of undeclared soy and soybeans in the product can lead to life-threatening allergic reactions in sensitive individuals while undeclared wheat may lead to adverse health reactions in both individuals sensitive to wheat protein or to gluten. The products were distributed in retail stores in Florida and Maryland or directly through the company’s website. There have been no illnesses reported but you may contact this company at 1(386) 740-0502.
  • US Compounding, Inc is voluntarily recalling lots of sterile products aseptically compounded and packages by USC and that remain within expiry due to the Food and Drug Administration’s concern over lack of sterility assurance. The sterile products were distributed nationwide to patients, providers, hospitals, or clinics between March 14, 2015 and September 9, 2015. If the sterility of a compounded preparation intended to be sterile is compromised, patients may be at risk.
