Gang of Motorcyclists Attack Man and Family on New York Streets

Recently, a biker gang on the streets of New York attacked Alexian Lien, a 33 year old man, who was in the car with his wife and child. One of the bikers had a helmet camera, and above you can see the full unedited video of the attack. This attack took place in upper Manhattan on the Henry Hudson Parkway. The video documenting the horrific scene was uploaded to the internet Monday.

It appears from the video that the biker gang seems to be seeking trouble from the man in the Range Rover. Watching these disturbing images, you can imagine how terrified the man driving must have been for the safety of himself and his family. The motorcyclists surround his car, swarming the vehicle from all angles until the driver accidentally runs one biker over, breaking both of the rider’s legs. New York Police said that the altercation began when the man called 911 to report the bikers driving erratically, NBC’s New York Post reports.

The gang of riders chase the Range Rover into traffic until ultimately, the driver cannot get away. The bikers smash his window in with a helmet and begin beating him. John McCarthy, a spokesman for the New York City Police Department, said that the victim sustained facial lacerations and chest wounds and he was treated for those injuries at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Fortunately, his wife and child were unharmed.

Police arrested 15 bikers and issues summonses to several others. Reportedly, 55 motorcycles were seized in connection with the event.

Christopher Cruz, 28, of Passaic, NJ was caught on video allegedly starting the entire incident when he brake-checked the victim’s Range Rover, supposedly so that the bikers would be able to take over the highway. He was released on $1,500 cash bail, after being charged with reckless driving and unlawful imprisonment. District attorney’s top trial prosecutor, Karen Friedman-Agnifilo confirmed that the office was proceeding with caution in building “the strongest case possible” against the renegade bikers. She said in a written statement that “prematurely charging individuals with low level crimes does not further the goals of the investigation, and could weaken the cases we expect to bring against the perpetrators of serious crimes.

Allen Edwards, a 43 year old Queens man surrendered to cops on Tuesday morning. He was allegedly caught on tape banging the victim’s driver’s side window. Edwards was released from the 33rd Precinct without arrest.

Police are currently trying to identify two suspects. One was wearing a chrome helmet with a logo of a bird on it. Witnesses told police that this biker pulled the victim out of the car, throwing him to the ground and stomping on his head. The second unidentified man was wearing orange, and he hit smashed the windows of the Range Rover.

Cops received hundreds of photos of license plates from bridge and tunnel cameras. They are currently trying to identify more bikers.  However, some of the plates were stolen or belong to different bikes. This makes it much tougher to ID the motorcyclists.

Last year, large groups of motorcyclists met in Times Square for an unauthorized gathering. Authorities suspect that this motorcycle gang was in Manhattan for a similar gathering called Hollywood Stuntz, where motorcyclists intend to drive around Manhattan doing various tricks on the roadways. In an attempt to combat this situation’s reoccurrence, police have set up check points at bridges and tunnels in an attempt to stop large groups of motorcyclists from gathering in the city.

This is yet another reminder of the dangers of driving. Always drive with caution cause you never know who else is on the road.
