Sibley Dolman Gipe Accident Injury Lawyers, PA’s own Darryl Rouson has been appointed to the Constitution Revision Commission, a committee which recommends proposals for revision of the Florida State Constitution. These proposals will be placed directly onto the November 2018 ballot, making this an important role.
Mr. Rouson was appointed by Florida Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran; he was among nine appointees.
The committee meets every 20 years, the last time during the 1997-1998 session. They will address such concerns as education and term limits for the Florida Supreme Court.
Mr. Rouson’s achievement marks another accomplishment on his long list, and we are proud to have him as a practicing attorney here at Dolman Law.
In 1980, Mr. Rouson earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where he was the president of the Black Law Students Association. Just a year later, he began work as the first African-American prosecutor in Pinellas County. While in that role, he was awarded the Florida Prosecutor Association Award.
In 2003, he gained the position of first chairman of the Substance Abuse and Addictions Task Force for the National Bar Association. He has also served as president of the St. Petersburg NAACP, chairman of the St. Petersburg Black Chamber, and member of the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission.
He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2008. Since then, he has made a major impact on his community, both in and out of Pinellas County. This past election, Representative Rouson won his bid for a seat in the Florida State Senate, becoming Senator Rouson.
His appointment to the constitution committee, then, is just another way Senator Rouson serves the people of Florida.
We are proud to have Senator Rouson representing the state of Florida as well as the Sibley Dolman Gipe Accident Injury Lawyers, PA.
