Two Dead, Two Injured After Motorcycle, Car Collide In Clearwater
Another tragic Florida motorcycle accident occurred this past weekend. Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that the driver and passenger of a motorcycle are now dead after a crash that took place at an intersection in Clearwater. Reports from the investigation state that around 10 a.m. Shay Daniel Lydon, 20, of Palm Harbor was driving his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Belcher Road in the inner lane. Lydon allegedly ran a red light at Belleair Road and entered into the path of a 2004 Toyota driven by Charles Manning, 62, a resident of Russellville, Ark. The motorcycle accident caused the road to be shut down for roughly three hours.
According to the damage, officials believe the front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the car. Lysdon and his passenger, Angelica Lee Hall, 18, of Palm Harbor, were ejected from the bike. Hall died at the scene. Lydon was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, and unfortunately died a week later from his injuries. It was reported that neither of the riders were wearing a helmet. This is yet another unfortunate and perhaps avoidable motorcycle fatality and further illustrates the importance of safety helmets. Manning and passenger Patricia Muth, 80, of Clearwater, were transported to Bayfront and remain in serious condition. Officials stated that, “charges are pending, and the incident remains under investigation.” If you have been physically injured as a result of a motorcycle accident, call the Florida injury attorneys at Dolman Law Group at: (727) 451-6900, for a free consultation and case evaluation.
